We’re honoured to be nominated in the Custom Built Home Under 2,500 Sq. Feet, Kitchen $50,000-$100,000, Exterior Space and Outbuilding categories.

This year, we’re so excited to be finalists in four categories in PKHBA’s Housing Design Awards! PKHBA — also known as Peterborough and the Kawarthas Home Builders Association Inc. — is a leader for builders and craftsmen in our area, and we are so honoured to be part of the extremely talented roster of fellow finalists. As custom home builders in Peterborough, the Kawarthas and the surrounding areas, there are few things we love more than this area and the projects we get to build in it.

The 2020 Housing Design Awards Categories

Our Gilbert + Burke team has been named a finalist in four separate categories at the Housing Design Awards: Custom Built Home Under 2,500 Sq. Ft., Exterior Space, Kitchen $50,000-$100,000 and Outbuilding.

Here’s a look inside our nominated designs:

Haliburton Lake House

This lakeside family cottage was built with the goal to carry on a family legacy and was rebuilt on a family lot full of history and memories. With massive, lake-level windows, hickory floors, a granite hearth stone fireplace, unique colourways and so much more, this project was a beautiful blend of craftsmanship and legacy-building.

Custom Built Home Under 2,500 Sq. Ft.

Lake Simcoe Retreat

This truly stunning and luxurious retreat off of Lake Simcoe was a massive undertaking — and an absolutely delightful one. The 3-stage construction consisted of the main dwelling along with a coach house and boathouse, and included a home theatre, gym, sauna and golf simulator. From the Douglas Fir timber frame to window walls with stunning lake views, this project was one of those beautiful builds that struck the perfect balance between luxury, environmental consciousness and beauty.

About the Housing Design Awards

Winners of the PKHBA Housing Design Awards will be announced at the gala on Thursday, November 18th. While the plan is for the awards to happen in person, a virtual event will be scheduled if need be.
