One of the best things about building in a location like Muskoka is the absolutely unmatched naturescapes that we build on. When we designed and built this Muskoka cottage in the pines, we were able to do our favourite thing: blend contemporary finishes with natural, rustic touches for a truly unique build.

With this custom cottage, we were able to work with the rockscape to create breathtaking views from around the build itself, all the while tying it all together with landscaping that reflected the surrounding area. In the midst of the Muskoka pine trees, this calming, nature-esque beauty rests as a Gilbert + Burke, Peter Groza signature design original.

What made this beautiful project unique?

In this build, a more traditional, nature-complementing exterior melds together with a contemporary, rustic interior. We wanted to create special living spaces that blend with the environment surrounding it, the project photos show the successful results. The Douglas Fir timber frame structure meets western red cedar ceilings, and the bedrooms offer extensive, panoramic views of the outdoors.

Inside, the stone and wood create a feeling of warmth as soon as you walk inside. The feature wall is a custom made wine fridge, and the barrel-ceilinged entry adds another level of luxury and tastefulness. In the great room, a 4-sided fireplace stands out as the focus… and even more fireplaces are nestled among each of the signature Groza designed octagon porches. With custom made furniture, a movie room and functional timber frame all throughout, the cottage is truly a next-level experience for our clients.
