We got some great fishing intel from our very own Brian Gilbert, and we’re sharing the ultimate guide to fishing in the Muskoka area. According to Brian, the best fishing in Muskoka can be found at Lake Rosseau or Lake Muskoka. The fish are great, whether you prefer bass, trout, pike or sunfish. He recommends a late afternoon fishing session for the best results, and he reminded us that the fishing in Muskoka goes year-round.

“My favourite thing about fishing is the quiet and the view,” Brian told us.

He loves the stunning views at his favourite Muskoka lakes and spends tons of time strategizing his next fishing expeditions. Brian loves fishing gear, as well. He recommends the Daiwana Minispin Ultralight Spinning reel and rod, the Okuma Celilo Ultralight trout rods and the Shakespeare Ugly Stik GX2 spinning rod. He also uses worms and crankbaits, depending on the type of fish. After a long day of fishing, he tells us that the absolute best place to grab a bite to eat is Crossroads in Rosseau.
